I guess the ref saw something we didn't, looks fine to me.

You can't tell from those photos whether parts of the pitch, in the shade, are frozen. :shock:

It wasn't the shaded areas that were the problem, oddly enough.

Fair point but unless the pitch takes a stud, which you can't tell from photos, then, nowadays, the ref considers it dangerous.
Years ago you would be allowed to play on a completely frozen pitch with rubber multi studs, baseball boots etc. I've even played at Portmann Road on a frozen pitch which was a nightmare. :shock:
